Dress as your spouse – Exactly what I needed! – My friend had a “dress as your spouse/significant other” themed birthday party and I needed a beard. I wasn’t finding anything so I decided to go the SFX route. With a little spirit gum, a wooden popsicle stick and determination…I went from a lady to man lol Everyone at the party thought it looked real, and for my first time using this product I’d say it turned out pretty good. It adhered pretty well with the spirit gum, but throughout the night there were a few pieces that fell off. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. You might be able to find it at a Halloween store for a little cheaper but they usually don’t carry this or other colors you can get on Amazon.

Don’t read the bad reviews. – I wish people would stop reviewing things they don’t understand. This product comes exactly as advertised. It’s for costume makeup. It isn’t a braid that goes in your hair. It isn’t a wig. You unravel the braid, cut how much you need, and fluff it out and glue it to your face for theatrical facial hair. I had never even used it, but I put it on one of my students literally an hour before their one act play competition, and the judges were raving about how great the beard looked. Read the descriptions and don’t buy what you don’t understand. This is crepe hair. This is exactly what it’s supposed to be like. For stage use, make sure you use liquid latex and not spirit glue. Sweat from the lights will make it fall off if you use spirit glue.

I was not that happy with this product – I was not that happy with this product. Although in all fairness, I sort of knew it was not exactly what I wanted, but was unable to find what I was looking for locally or anywhere online. So I decided to try this product. We were hoping to use it for Halloween to make my husband into a ware wolf. This is one long strand, that only appears to be braided. It is actually scrunched together with a string. You are supposed to cut into the length you want, and apply it. It was too curly or tightly kinky to be straightened. It was pretty impossible to comb straight either without detaching each strand. It was a very different look than what we were looking for. It is probably perfect if you simply wanted to create a beard look.

Perfect for masks! – I started on a Halloween Kills poster style firey orange mask, then I realized I needed some good hair to put on it. I specifically wanted good crepe hair, and Mehron did not disappoint! I was able to style it easily and one braid of hair was enough to hair the entire head! I’ll definitely be buying this again!

Absolutely PERFECT – I decided to be cheeky and go to a family Halloween party as my brother who’s in the DEA. He’s growing out a bit of a beard, so I set out to get one myself for as cheap as possible. Not gonna spend a lot on a one-time costume. I had two options. 1) Get a realistic looking beard and use something like spirit gum, or 2) Buy one of those fake wearable beards that have a light adhesive or no adhesive at all. Well after looking everywhere, I couldn’t find any cheap beards that looked realistic, and the fake ones you can wear looked so bad I couldn’t bring myself to order.

excellent for faux facial hair – This product was used for a moustache and beard for my Jack Sparrow cosplay costume. Initially, i thought there was not going to be enough product that was delivered, but once straightened, there is more than enough: straighten only short segments at a time, preserving the coiled crepe hair for future applications. I had previously used prefabricated facial products but the look was “artificial”, and the moustache and beard kept falling off. This Mehron product, while taking a little more time to apply definitely gives a more realistic, durable look. I applied the hair with Prosaid. This is an excellent adhesive, and can be a bit messy to work with. But careful application of the adhesive with cotton tipped applicators to your skin, waiting for the adhesive to become tacky and then pushing the trimmed edge of the hair to the skin with another utensil (i used a piece of a wooden chopstick), keeps your fingers free of the tacky glue. I would also recommend working in small sections at a time; you can thereby modify your technique and amount of hair to give the desired result. In a couple of areas, i did not apply enough hair, so i simply dabbed just a bit more adhesive over the thin areas and applied additional Mehron. Don’t apply too much adhesive over these thin areas, for while the adhesive is somewhat transparent, too much glue could be visible and detract from the final look. I applied longer lengths of hair, then trimmed to my desired length afterwards. With this adhesive, the moustache and beard stayed in place for over 9 hours, until i removed them after the fair. I had NO issue with contact dermatitis from the glue, as some had reported. And I would definitely recommend the Prosaid adhesive remover, as there is residual adhesive after removing the hair. The Prosaid remover is pungent, but tolerable. I would offer this: do not overly steam/heat treat the crepe hair product, as it may become excessively straightened, looking a little less realistic IMHO. So, I think this is an excellent product for facial hair. Delivery was prompt. I can recommend this product and supplier.
